Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Peru

Welcome to Lima! Upon arrival, you will be assisted at the airport and transferred via private driver to your hotel.

Relax after your flight at Miraflores Park, A Belmond Hotel. Set in a verdant garden, Miraflores Park boasts chic and modern suites, a stunning rooftop bar, and ocean views that will take your breath away.

Day 2: Lima’s Art & Architecture

Begin your journey with a half-day city tour of Lima’s historic center, the City of Kings, the most important city in America during colonial times. Explore the Santo Domingo Convent, which was built in 1535 and still stands today. Then, take a walk towards the Main Plaza, where you will find the Government Palace, the Archbishop’s Palace, the Lima Municipality, and the Cathedral. There, you will have the chance to photograph the plaza and its beautiful colonial buildings.

Enjoy a guided visit to the Larco Museum, where the unsurpassed collection of Treasures of Ancient Peru is housed. You will be accompanied by a curator who will give you expert insights into the collection. Don’t miss one of the most striking exhibitions, presenting ceramic pieces from the Mochica culture, which—due to its particular characteristics—is known as “erotic pottery.”

After a set-menu lunch at Cafe Del Museo, you’ll embark on a private Barranco Street Art Tour. Barranco is Lima’s best kept secret with its distinct bohemian feel. Your tour guide, a local who grew up in the neighborhood, will focus on amazing street art, gorgeous neoclassical colonial and republican architecture, world-class art galleries, and also give you some sweeping Pacific Ocean views along the boardwalk.

One more “artsy” stop for the day takes you to the emblematic hotel B, which houses more than 300 pieces including paintings, sculptures, photography, graphic work, video art, and installations. End your first full day with a delicious set-menu dinner back at your hotel, Miraflores Park.

Day 3-6: Amazon River Cruise

Next, you’ll journey to one of the most biodynamic ecosystems on the planet: the Amazon Jungle. Private car service will take you from Lima to the airport for your flight to Iquitos, a Peruvian port city and gateway to the jungle.

Once there, get settled on your home for the next three days: the astounding Aqua Nera river cruise ship. The intimate ship draws design inspiration from the Peruvian Amazon’s mystical black water lagoons and bears the hallmarks of contemporary style, with generous interiors. Each spacious suite conveys a sense of Amazon tranquility, while the social spaces showcase refined elegance with a touch of drama. Tastefully woven into the design are accents and details from the rubber boom era and the colorful cultures of Portugal, Spain, and Peru.

Aqua Nera will take you into the depths of the Peruvian Amazon in the comfort of luxury. The cruise features cuisine designed by Pedro Miguel Schiaffino, one of Peru’s finest chefs who is celebrated for creating refined cuisine from native Amazonian produce. Every day, expert naturalist guides conduct small-group excursions that reward you with up-close wildlife encounters in the world’s most biodiverse rainforest.

Day 7: Sacred Valley

Today, you’ll say goodbye to the Amazon and fly from Lima to Cuzco, and then onward to Sacred Valley in Peru’s Andean highlands.

Our Sacred Valley adventure begins with a welcome lunch at Hacienda Sarapampa. Hacienda Sarapampa offers visitors the opportunity to have a unique cultural experience around the traditions associated with corn production practices; corn has long been a staple of the region and had enormous cultural value for the Incas. Enjoy a 3-course lunch, featuring farm-to-table cuisine based on local and family recipes while learning about the culture of Cuzco’s giant white corn production in the Sacred Valley.

Afterwards, on the road to Ollantaytambo, we’ll stop at a viewpoint for one of the best views of the Sacred Valley. Then it is on to Ollantaytambo, one of the most representative building complexes of the Inca Empire and site of one of the Spanish Conquistadors’ rare strategic defeats. Famous for its terraced fields, Ollantaytambo was a very effective fortress and also a religious center.

Check in for the evening at Rio Sagrado, A Belmond Hotel. Set in lush gardens beside the rushing Urubamba River, this tranquil Andean hideaway is an adventure for the senses.

Day 8: Sacred Valley Tour

We’ll begin today’s full-day tour by heading toward the Maras salt mines, an amazing place where the finest salt in the world is extracted. On the way, we’ll make a stop at the Raqchi viewpoint, from where you will have an impressive view of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Next, enjoy a visit to the Misminay community. Upon arrival, the villagers will give you a warm welcome with music and typical traditional dances. There, you will be able to learn about the Andean families’ lifestyle by sharing some of their daily activities with them—including a weaving session with the ladies in charge of the community.

We’ll end today’s tour in Moray, a fascinating archeological site, with a trek that gives you unparalleled views of the site’s huge concentric terraces, which the Incas used as a botanical laboratory.

Day 9: Machu Picchu

Today is all about your journey to one of the most important historical sites in the world: Machu Picchu. Your excursion starts aboard a luxury train towards the town of Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo. The natural beauty of the surroundings makes the train ride the best way to venture to the ruins.

Once you arrive, you will begin your guided ascent to the ruins. After you reach the top, take a tour of Machu Picchu, learning the surprising history and mysteries of one of the Seven Wonders of the World. With a breathtaking view all around you, you will surely have more than one spectacular photo-op!

Then, it’s back to Aguas Calientes for your return train journey and, upon your arrival, private transfer back to your hotel in Cuzco: Monasterio, A Belmond Hotel. A refurbished ancient monastery, this legendary Cuzco hotel is simply dripping with old-world charm.

Day 10: Cuzco

Begin your day with a city tour of Cuzco, known as the Imperial City and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Your guided tour will take you to some of the city’s most impressive sites, including Koricancha Temple, once an ancient Inca palace and center of worship of the Sun God, the Plaza de Armas with its soaring cathedral, and the Sacsayhuaman Fortress, an imposing example of Inca military architecture. Enjoy a set-menu lunch at a local restaurant and a toast to close your city tour at the Ananay Manco Capac Hotel.

Experience a different side of Cuzco by touring the city at night. On this magical tour, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of Cuzco lit up in the evening, a stroll through the artisan neighborhood San Blas, and a visit to the Museum of Pre-Colombian Art. Its facilities are built on Incan foundations, and its exhibits shine light on the city’s ancient Pre-Hispanic legacy. End the evening with dinner at one of the top restaurants in town to celebrate the conclusion of our Peruvian adventure.

Day 11: Departure

You’ll end your Peruvian adventure today with a flight from Cuzco to Lima to connect with your international flight back home.
