Kentucky Derby Party

The Kentucky Derby, a.k.a., “The Run for the Roses,” is the longest-running sporting event in US history.

Each year on the first Saturday in May, men in seersucker suits and bow ties and women in fascinators or elaborate designer hats line the stands to cheer for their favorite ponies.  After attending the event, I was inspired to throw my own Derby-themed soiree.  The perfect place in Arkansas for a Kentucky Derby luncheon was the Pine Hill Ranch, a world-class equestrian center in Little Rock. Keeping in the theme, table settings, florals and an elegant fare were designed to create a Derby Day worth remembering.

Highlights

Table settings including pearls, crystal and, of course. roses. No red roses were included. Silks A Bloom designed lush floral arrangements of Quicksand, pink Mondale and White Polar Star roses mixed with hydrangeas, pink rice flowers, white anemones, dusty miller, white snapdragons and white French tulips.

Inspiration

Feminine, yet elegant, inspired by this famous southern equestrian tradition.
