Search for “most beautiful place on Earth,” and Bora Bora will appear on almost every list. The stunningly gorgeous island, located in the middle of the South Pacific, is the perfect romantic destination for couples who want a peaceful escape.
For most people, when they book a trip to Bora Bora, the goal is to rest and relax. But for me, all that resting and relaxing can become Bora Boring.
When my husband and I visited back in 2019, he was happy as a clam lounging on a floaty in the beautiful blue water outside our elegant overwater bungalow. But me? After a few days, I was going a little stir-crazy.
So, in true Boss Lady fashion, I started brainstorming ways to share Bora Bora (which, despite my restlessness, I absolutely adored) with my followers AND promote my book, Four Seasons of Entertaining.
Step 1 – Hire a Photographer
I searched Instagram for an amazing local photographer and found Marc Gérard. I just loved his style, so I hired him to come to the resort for a photoshoot.
By the way, hiring a local photographer is one of my favorite travel tips, especially when you’re visiting a bucket list destination like Bora Bora. You’re already investing so much in that experience. Why not spend some time and money to capture it?
Keep in mind … To make the most of your time with the photographer, it’s important to plan out some shots you want to get, including makeup and wardrobe. You want to look your best!
I know it can feel a bit contrived, but if you want great photos that you’re proud to display, hiring a photographer is the way to go.
Step 2 – Put Together an Impromptu Event
I love to entertain. I love design. I love to travel. So I decided to create a little event to showcase all those things.
With lots of help from the amazing staff at the St. Regis Bora Bora, I put together a lovely, romantic dinner party—just for me and my husband—complete with a tablescape inspired by the local surroundings.
Let me just pause for a moment to thank all the staff at the resort. The level of service at the St. Regis Bora Bora is phenomenal. I cannot overstate how wonderful our experience was there.
From the moment I presented my idea to them, they were all in and did anything and everything they could to help me bring my vision to life.
Step 3 – Make Memories to Last a Lifetime
To all the Boss Ladies and Gentlemen out there who find it challenging to slow down and chill out … If you haven’t been to Bora Bora yet, you must go.
The indescribable beauty is something everyone should experience in person. It’s THAT good.
And believe me, if I was able to turn my Bora Boredom into a cherished memory, you can, too.
