I founded Shayla Copas Interiors in 1997 with a simple philosophy: Your home should be the most treasured space in your life. It’s where you unwind, raise your family, nurture your soul, and retreat when you need rest.
Your home should feel harmonious, gracious, and quintessentially you.
That guiding philosophy has blossomed from interior design into a multi-pronged lifestyle brand that has allowed me to share my keen design eye and approachable luxury aesthetic with clients across the U.S., around the globe and in my hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas. Whether I’m designing vibrant textiles or infusing a space with a twinge of my signature Southern Glam, my clients’ needs drive every project. My team and I are well known for our honesty and reliability—we will always be respectful of your time, budget, and unique style.
As a Southern girl (pass the sweet tea pitcher, please!), my sense of hospitality makes my clients feel immediately at ease. They trust me to elevate their visions into professionally polished spaces that still feel deeply personal. Through my team’s in-depth, client-centered intake process, we uncover the preferences, moods, and memories that will guide every project detail.

A World Beyond Interiors
My design work has long been inspired by my global travels, so in 2022 I launched Shayla Copas Travel to offer my clients Virtuoso curated luxury journeys around the world.
I travel the way I design—by seeking out what’s alluring and authentic, colorful and comforting, and always throwing in a dash of the delightfully unexpected. Clients work with me to craft custom itineraries full of cultural immersion, or they join me on hosted group journeys where I take them on a tour of the places and spaces that fill my own creative cup.
After 20+ years in interiors and events, career highlights include designing two inaugural balls for Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, publishing Four Seasons of Entertaining and watching the book become a best seller in several Amazon categories, being featured in numerous national household magazines, earning the Designer of the Year Award, being named the 2017 Philanthropist of the Year Award by the Women’s Foundation of Arkansas, and partnering with product lines to make it even easier to bring a touch of “Shayla style” into your home.
Above all that, though,
I’m most proud of how my clients trust me with their visions, welcome me into their most sacred spaces, and become family for life.

Shayla’s “Top 10” Favorites

Favorite Southern staple:
I love anything fried. However, I am gluten free because of an allergy—so I have learned to make the best fried chicken…gluten free!

Favorite food:
I love soup! And I cook a lot of different types for our family; I’m famous for my Chicken and Dumplings.

Favorite Southern city:
I love the Savannah, Georgia, area and especially Palmetto Bluff right outside the city. And shout out to Little Rock, Arkansas — my home since 1994.

Favorite cocktail:
It depends on my mood! But I like anything with mint and lemon. I created a cocktail for my next book that features those ingredients. So refreshing!

Favorite animal:
As an interior designer it may be shocking to learn that I am a bit of a tomboy and I grew up on a farm, and I love snakes. I even had a client call me once because she had a rattlesnake in her garage and she wanted me to help her get it out. Just call me the snake whisperer!

Favorite travel memory:
Definitely South Africa. There is something very spiritual about the first time you hear a lion roar… in person just a few feet away! We created such bonds with the staff at the lodges, and when we left I knew that I would add travel to my brand so that I could help others create those same memories.

Favorite weekend activity:
My husband and I love to spend time on our houseboat. I cook and entertain our guests and clients, and my husband navigates the water. I am in the midst of a houseboat renovation at the moment and the remodeling process is quite different when designing a houseboat. This challenge has cleared the path for our latest service specialty.

Favorite style:
My signature style is transitional—comforting traditional with a kiss of modern “Southern Glam.”

Favorite decor piece:
This may sound mushy, but I love inexpensive items that have sentimental value. My maternal grandmother’s makeup mirror, my paternal grandmother’s candy jars, and the dinnerware my mother-in-law gave me mean the most. I would give up all my “fancy stuff” before the keepsakes that I inherited, because they make me smile each day.

Favorite travel “must haves”:
After visiting 31 countries (and counting!), I’ve narrowed down my ”must haves” to travel insurance, packing cubes, a rikki makeup mirror and a Briggs and Riley™ carry on. Of course our new Shayla Copas Beauty line of lip glosses are a must have as well.
