The Bucolic Colonial: A Closer Look at Travel-Inspired Design
One of the nicest things about living in a plethora of cities, states or countries over a period of time is the fact that eventually, your interior design begins to reflect a little bit of each of these regions that you’ve called home over the years. For example, if the Florida panhandle is an area you found yourself living in for a stint before moving to Breckenridge, Colorado, chances are your rustic mountain domicile has got a little of Florida’s beach-side ambiance infused into it’s décor.
We came across a home tour of a residence in Charlotte, North Carolina that’s owned by a well-traveled Lynn-Anne Bruns and family. “We’ve lived in lots of places, including the U.K., coastal California, Gulf Coast Florida, the Midwest, as well as North Carolina — twice,” Bruns told Apartment Therapy, presenters of the home tour. “We travel a lot, so we have loads of interesting things and a fearless, imaginative attitude.” With that attitude, Bruns seamlessly blended her own sense of style and her excursion adventures to create what has been affectionately referred to as the “The Bruns Breathtaking Bucolic Colonial.” Take a look at some of these fun photos from the home tour!

Love this kitchen! I’m working on locations for our kitchen and bath issue right now, so I’ve been seeing lots of spaces. This color palette seems so fresh. I’ve always personally gravitated to white cabinetry, and the touches of sky blue and red in here add a bold touch. The open shelves look great, too. Very inviting.
